湖北省首家进入大学生公寓经营的标准超市--鲁巷广场购物中心当代超市于2001年12月8日亮相于民院路的当代大学生公寓，周边是华中科技大学、中南民族学院、中南财经政法大学等高校，超市的受众主要是高校师生，这也是配合高校后勤改革的重大突破。

started business in DangdaiStudents' Apartments area by Minyuan
Road on December 8, 2001, surrounded by Huangzhong University
of science and Technology, Zhongnan University of Nationalities
and Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. Therefore, its
customers are mainly university teachers and students, which
is also an important breakthrough of university logistic reform.
当代超市面积约3000平方米，为了更好地发挥超市的便民特点，在商品结构上，当代超市突破了以往社区以小食品、日用品为主销商品的模式，将大型超市独有的生鲜作为超市突破重点，经营面积占到四分之一，大大提高了超市聚客能力；另外针对高校消费特点，超市还开设了便民医药、书市、唱碟、磁带、小五金、小家电专柜。为了给学生提供一个健康的娱乐休闲场所，当代超市还开辟了较大的休闲区，包括烧烤、酒吧等。除此之外，超市还设有一个商务中心，专门为广大师生提供打字、复印业务。除了在商品结构上的独特外，当代超市在经营方式上开创了"三段式"经营模式，将全天营业时间划分为早、中、晚三个时段，开放不同的经营区域。
With an operation area of about 3,000㎡, to further extend
the feature of facilitating the public, Dangdai Supermarket
goes beyond traditional commodity assortment model of old
community supermarkets where small food and daily utensils
are mainly sold, but as the most important breakthrough, uses
1/4 of its operation area for fresh meat and vegetables, which
is solely characterized by large-scaled supermarkets, and
enormously enhances its ability to attract customers. Apart
from this, the Supermarket sets up corners and concessions
of medicines for common use, books, VCDs, cassettes, small
hardware and small household appliances, to meet the consuming
characteristics of universities. To provide a healthy recreational
place for students, it also establishes a large recreational
zone including barbecuing, bars and so on. Besides, it has
a business center of typing and photocopying services for
various students and teachers. In addition to the unique commodity
mix, the Supermarket creates a "three-time-period"
operational mechanism, dividing the operation day into morning,
afternoon and night, and opening different business areas
accordingly.

invested by Luxiang Plaza Shopping Center. The advanced operational
and managerial mode of combining grand market with "shops within

and reasonably priced commodities, which makes it a fine shopping

Guanshan Supermarket opened on April 30, 2003 after thorough and detailed
investigations and analysis to Guanshan as well as the advanced managerial
systems of those large-scaled supermarkets in Wuhan City, together
with completion and improvements of the commodity exhibition and layout
design according to the special characteristics of Guanshan Supermarket.
All the above efforts brought a breakthrough in sales volume of RMB
one million within two days of its opening, which was spoken highly
by fellow-traders and various suppliers, and now it has possessed
a stable customer group.

It is another successful exploration in chain operation for Luxiang
Plaza to open Guanshan Supermarket, which attempts to expand self-operation
and on-site processing or making commodities so as to reduce costs
and improve the competitive edge. For example, such commodities as
small knitwear, slippers and stationeries, are 30%-50% lower in price
than that in other supermarkets thanks to self-operation and decrease
of intermediate circulations, thus with their attractive price and
quality are readily accepted by customers, achieving outstanding achievements
in sales.
